Meet Nathan Smith

Nathan moved to Beaufort, North Carolina, in April 2007 to launch Moores Marine Yacht Center. He previously served as Project Manager at Moores Marine of the Palm Beaches, Inc., in Florida, where he worked on 25 major wooden boat refits since joining the company in 1992. Nathan is a master carpenter who specializes in structural marine carpentry.

Growing up as an “army brat,” Nathan lived in Seoul, Korea, Long Branch, N.J., Washington D.C., New Orleans, La., West Point, N.Y., San Diego, Ca., and El Paso, Alpine and Waco, Texas.

He attended North Texas State University and Stephen F. Austin University, both in Texas, and majored in computer science and economics on math scholarships and the G.I. Bill. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, where he was a nuclear cannon crew chief responsible for calculating coordinates.

Nathan personally handles all of the laser targeting of our clients’ yachts at MMYC. His continuing education credits include training on bow thruster installations in wooden boats and epoxy resin applications and laminations.
